YOU

Deb and Bill

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: One as old as mankind.

We all feel insecure.

We all grow and change.

And we will all, someday, die.

I’m not telling you these things to be morbid or depressing. I’m telling these things because it’s imperative that you listen and take them to heart.

I am now 25 pounds heavier than I was the day I married the love of my life. Looking back at our pictures I’m so amazed at how skinny I was. And I’m not so happy about my weight now.

However, my weight is what it is. If I held off being photographed until I was 25 pounds lighter, it would be a LONG, LONG time. If ever.

I am intimately aware of how self-conscious it can be to have images created when your body isn’t 20-something perfect. And how awful it can be to have a less than flattering photograph of myself created.

So I get where you are. And I get what you’re feeling.

But when you invest in a professional, that special person who understands how the body works and how to pose you so that those insecurities are less apparent, you invest in heightening your own self-esteem while creating an important document of who you are at that moment of your life.

You’re documenting your relationship, your loves, and you.

Those same people are going to look at your images, not with critical eyes, but with the understanding that the person staring back from the image is YOU. They see where you’ve been and where you’re going. They see YOU. Sure, they might see your weight, but these are people who love you. And they love the you that is captured in a photograph as well as the you that goes to dinner with them, who wipes baby bums and snuggles puppies. They see the you that makes them love themselves simply because you love them.

So you see, creating memories in front of the camera is imperative to helping your family love you and to loving yourself.

It can be hard to see at first, especially when the “not good enough” monster rears its ugly head (it’s ugly, not you). But I promise you that if you take a moment to create images true to who you are with a photographer experienced in making you feel beautiful, you will create something that is more than your weight.

You’ll create something to be cherished.

YOU.
