Bell Imaging & Design is a Maine photography studio and graphic design studio that specializes in creating beautiful, relaxed, and fun on-location and outdoor Maine portraits of Maine people and Maine pets.

Owner Debra Bell (that’s me) is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. I specialize in lifestyle pet portraits and weddings. I love traveling to meet people where they live and enjoy life. I travel throughout Maine to create beautiful and relaxed  Maine portraits.

Memories. Connection. Meaning.

Three words sum up the reason most images are made. We create images to document a memory. We create images to show our connections. We create images that mean something. And in Maine, we do a lot of this outdoors. After all, what better backdrop that beautiful scenic Maine to have your portraits created?

Forget the traditional studio experience. Instead, come to my outdoor studio and have your  Maine portraits taken in a beautiful field, by a rustic fence, or in the nearby woods. Or have me come to you and capture your babies, children, family, or pets in their natural environment. After all, do you hang out in a studio with fancy props? Unlikely.

All portrait sessions are posted in an online gallery with a password for your privacy for 6 months. Prints can be purchased from the Web site or through Debra Bell at your convenience.

Bell’s Bellies (Maternity Photography): $125

Maternity photography is a way to show off that beautiful belly and your special relationships. A maternity session is all about Mom (and Dad too). I’ll make your session fun, relaxing, and most of all make you feel beautiful.

Bell’s Babies (Baby Photography): $125 per session

Babies grow so fast, so make sure to have a keepsake created celebrating your little one’s first days, months, and years. A Bell's Babies Photography session is available for a one-time session or save money by scheduling a full year's worth of memory-making sessions.

Baby’s First Year: $600 for five sessions spaced 3 months apart

This package includes newborn (within 3 weeks of being born, usually best if done around one week old), 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, and one year with family portraits thrown in along the way.

Do you spend your day in a studio, surrounded by traditional lighting set ups, or do you spend it outside at cool locations?

The majority of my seniors choose outdoor shoots at local scenic locations. Many seniors choose to bring a friend, pet, favorite hobby, and several clothing changes with them to the session. Sometimes we even go to multiple locations.

In 2010, the majority of my seniors came to my outdoor studio location in Hermon. Located on the Coldbrook Road, my outdoor studio consists of a field, wooden fence, wooded paths, and the snowmobile club bridge over Cold Brook. Other popular scenic senior portrait locations include downtown Bangor (for urban, fun photos), Cascade Park, and the Kenduskeag Trail. Parents are welcome to come along.

Most senior portrait sessions are between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours, depending on location and how much fun we’re having! A typical senior session will yield between 25 and 75 proofs, all of which are viewable online. You’ll receive a portrait credit based upon the reprint package that comes with your session. Any session reprint package can be upgraded upon request. You’ll also be able to purchase additional prints online from the proofing site.

In 2011, Bell Imaging & Design went green with proofing. A proof book used to be offered as part of each senior portrait package, but in the interest of helping reduce our impact on the environment, proofing is now done online or in person.

Whether you love to have your photos taken, or you would rather have a filling replaced, your senior portrait documents a big moment in your life. These portraits are cherished by parents and family members, and immortalize you in your high school yearbook. But the experience doesn’t have to be painful. In fact, it can be fun!

• PLAN: At Bell Imaging & Design, planning is as simple as having a cup of coffee. We meet (over the phone, in person, or via e-mail) and talk about YOU. About your interests, your family, your pets, and what YOU want from your pictures. Do you want indoor photos or outdoor ones? Do you want traditional headshots or do you want to showcase your favorite car, hobby, or pet? And we talk about what Mom and Dad want from your pictures too.

During the initial planning session, we’ll decide on a time and location (or locations) as well as a package that fits your needs best. I want there to be no surprises when it comes time to shoot or pay. We’ll also talk about clothes and props. I’ll answer questions. You’ll laugh (hopefully a lot). Everyone will leave happy and confident.
